Jotterbot was one of those things I kept meaning to do, but somehow never got around to. Today I got a lovely email from Alex reminding me to register (again) and as I needed an excuse to procrastinate I did. Less than five minutes later it was done, which really isn’t long enough for a proper procrastination, but should give you an idea of how easy it is to set up.
Jotterbot is a UK based site which is built on a very clever idea – that all of us carry phones. In fact we are more likely to carry a phone than a pen and paper. So what happens if you’re away from the office and think of an idea for an article, or hear of a website you really should check out, or even just remember something you’d forgotten? One solution would be to pop it into your phone memo. Another would be to send a text to Jotterbot, who will then send it on to your email account for the cost of a regular text message.
Setting up is as simple as giving Jotterbot your email address and your phone number, then waiting for Jotterbot to email you a
verification link. Once you’ve clicked on the link you can then text Jotterbot from anywhere you can get a mobile signal.
The resulting emails come with no advertising, no spam and no other links. Just the date, time and the message that you wrote.
It’s a very cool idea, plus the website is cute as well.
