When Alex asked me to review a preloaded soap sponge, my mind did start to boggle somewhat. A pre-loaded soap sponge? What is this, the soap and sponge equivalent of Wash and Go? 'Take two bottles into the shower. No! I just Pedi-buff and go'. I was swiftly assured that it was essentially a sponge, loaded with 20 washes.
Game for anything, I gave it a go the next day in the shower. Word of caution - Buffing your feet in a standing shower stance is fraught with difficulty. Balance for one. Standing on a 'just soaped' foot is another. This being the case, on first lather and scrub, I did do a bambi on ice spectacular in the shower and nearly fell on my arse. It was like one of those cartoon moments when someones feet quickly go away from them and a comical whoosh sounds as the person crashes to the floor. Being of rubenesque proportions this was unlikely to be a light thud. Alerted to the delicate bump my slippage must have caused, my partner stuck their head round the door to check what the noise was, seeing me lathered and upright again by this point I was promptly told to stop messing about and leave them enough hot water - pah! But there you go, the lesson I am passing on to you - use it in the bath, not the shower.
As this has 20 washes or so before it miraculously changes back into 'just a sponge', the kind of bathroom equivalent of Hero to Zero, the soap consistency changes. As you would expect the first 5 or so washes are more buff and less soap, I personally preferred this. It gave your feet a good scrub but I have to say - while it was ticklish, perhaps I can even say invigorating, it certainly didn't leave my feet feeling noticeably softer than before. After the crashing in the shower and the giggling and whooping that came from the invigorating first five buffs in the bath, my partner was now convinced I had developed a meaningful relationship with the shower head. *ahem*
The 10 washes in the middle get it about right, enough rub and enough soap - still no dramatic results but a nice sensation nonetheless. The last 5 or so washes I did find you had to eek out the soap. In the end the Pre Loaded Pedi Buffer does become just another sponge in your bathroom, and one that you can just use on your feet at that.
I have to say that while it was fun to use, and fun to review, I didn't find my feet noticeably smoother or buffed. They smelt nice for sure but throughout the trial they were just normal old run of the mill 30 something feet. Perhaps I was expecting too much, but the word Pedi had me all excited that I'd get Pedicure standard tootsies.
The Pedi buffer is a bit of a novelty stocking filler and therefore I don't think I would go out of my way to buy it on a regular basis as a product for my feet. I will have fond memories of it though, tired sponge that it is now. *lays wreath*
