I love all things that vibrate so I was thrilled when offered this product - a Vibrating Hair Straightener. Yes you heard me correctly, the VibraShine really is a vibrating hair straightener. It sounds crazy but it works!
If you’re like me and have previously owned ghd’s, you’ll notice that the VibraShine looks different from the outset. Its bigger, it’s lighter, it has a longer cord, it comes in bright metallic colours and has more controls. It also has another thing which I didn’t notice until I read the instructions; it has the facility to lock the straighteners closed. No more needing to wrap the cord around it anymore, the VibraShine will stay shut on its own!
I worried that the controls were going to be quite complicated but actually they were great. There are only three buttons and an LCD screen to read the temperature of the ceramic plates. The Vibration is switched on by holding down one of the buttons, but be prepared as it’s noisy! Once you have your straighteners vibrating there is yet another little trick up the VibraShine’s sleeve – you can ‘lock’ the temperature. Unlike me, my hair is quite fussy so I really appreciate this control. I have very fine hair so worry endlessly about ‘burning’ my hair with tools which are far too hot.
So what are the Vibrations for, I hear you ask. The vibrations ensure the hair passes over the ceramic plates more evenly, as well as producing negative ions which reduce static. I know when I tried it the first time I got a beautiful result. Not only did it straighten my hair faster, but it appeared to be more ‘flat’ than usual. I showed it to a friend with thick Asian hair and she was even more impressed than I. What sold her was that your temperature choice went up to 230’, higher temperatures being better for thicker hair apparently.
My one issue with the VibraShine was how to hold it, with me quickly discovering that there is a right way to hold the VibraShine and a wrong way. The wrong way ensures that your fingers will constantly unlock the temperature, or turn off the vibrations, or even turn off the tool altogether. The right way will not only be more comfortable but will allow you to style your hair in peace. The clue is the thumb-pad on the under-side of the tool which I initially missed, so had to learn the hard way.
I like the VibraShine and I love the vibrations!
