This gadget was a bit of surprise for me as I had no idea what I was going to review until I actually got it. All I knew was that Alex had said that she thought I would like it and she was absolutely right!
Therefore, and without further ado, let me introduce you to the KeySonic KSK-8001 UEL keyboard and what better way
to test it than to use it to write its own review?
Opening the box revealed a sleek, black, full sized, but slim line, multimedia keyboard with a brushed black aluminium palm rest. Always a good start when something looks good. Apart from the standard keyboard buttons there are also buttons for opening and controlling your default media player and for opening your default browser, email and favourites. It’s a simple Plug & Play Installation, all you need is a spare USB socket and once you have plugged it in then it becomes apparent why this is more than an ordinary keyboard.
The unique feature is that the keys on this keyboard are back lit and you can choose whether you want them blue or
red at the touch of a button. Personally I preferred the blue but it is nice to have a choice. There is also a dial on
the keyboard where you can control the brightness of the light; the lowest setting makes the keys look like a normal
keyboard. The keys do not make much noise at all when you type on them thanks to the SoftTouch membrane technology and
even without the light they are clear and readable. All in all it’s a very comfortable and easy keyboard to use.
Living in a studio flat there have been occasions when the other half has gone to bed, leaving me glued to my computer screen and the only way I was able to see the keyboard was to keep the light on. I used to worry that the light would disturb them but now I can tap away fairly silently with the light off so….. Sweet dreams!!!
