It arrived in a small paperback sized white package.
One blue USB with a secure fitting lid and a matching lanyard (the geek in me appreciates such thoughtfulness)
Welcome to the World of YuuWaa – a very interesting, incredibly user-friendly USB and Online Data Storage system,
that even seems to have their prices right.
The version I received was the 4GB USB with a further 20GB online storage facility – free for the first six months in
the purchase price.
Typically foregoing the instructions, I stuck the USB into my laptop and voila, in under 10 seconds up popped the installation
and then registration system.
Delightfully all of it was very simple – not a thing to be scared about here, making a very pleasant change to some of
the lousy interfaces I’ve had to fumble my way through previously.
Registration complete, I was directed to a clear drag and drop screen. In essence I can drag any file from my computer, the
USB or online storage facility to any of the others (eg. File from my computer to USB, change my mind and drag it to the online
storage.)
The moment I hit 80% capacity, a warning kindly flags up.
The entire system is password protected.
Oh and if you lose your USB, YuuWaa can lock it all down for you, preventing unauthorised access. Cool!
Further, you can replace the USB and upload your online storage to your new USB.
There really has been some thought given to this.
So, good looking product, effective interface, reasonable level of security – what else would one want?
Well, aside from being able to access for online files from anywhere in the World, you can also invite contacts to have access
to the information too – and this I like immensely!
I’m soon off to do some travelling so I can store all my essential details on my system, enter my Next of Kin details and
voila, she’ll receive an email with an appropriate link to access whatever files I’ve deemed she’ll
need to save my butt! (I’m sure she’ll be thrilled...)
I’ve had some dreadful experiences with USB and Online security gadgets and sites – everything from shoddy devices, lousy instructions, horrendous pricing that’s nothing short of insulting and interfaces that are beyond impractical and YuuWaa have frankly out-thought, out-designed and out-priced the lot. Of all the security gadgets in this genre that I have at my disposal to take with me when I go, the YuuWaa is it.
RRP: £19.99, and available from Amazon, and other good retailers.
