Loc8tor Lite

Product: Loc8tor Lite

Do you lose your keys all the time? Or perhaps put your mobile down and spend half an hour searching for it whilst everyone sighs deeply at you doing this again before they give up and dial your number for you...? I don't but I've plenty of friends who do and I think I might add this gadget to their Christmas list.

The Loc8tor Lite is a credit card sized tracking device that comes with a tag that you attach to any item you want to be able to find easily - and it works like a dream! Firstly, it looks good and genuinely is credit card sized. The tag is a little chunky (I don't like things hanging off my mobile) but fits great on a set of keys. Better still the range on the device is superb. I've played 'hide and seek' with the device and tag throughout this week (showing it off, it has to be said). Friends have stuffed their keys in various places around their houses and using just the Loc8tor Lite handset (and feeling a bit Bond like) I've tootled around with speed and confidence and found each item. According to the literature, the Loc8tor can track up to 400 metres. It certainly didn't fail me from first floor apartment to car.

The device doesn't just have flashing directional lights (changing as you get closer to the tagged item to visually guide you in) but both the tag and handset have a sound system, which is volume adjustable.
You can program the handset to locate four different tags and the set-up of this nifty gem is breathtakingly simple (I read the instructions afterwards!)

It is supplied with a wall mount (I carry mine in my wallet) and even stickers so you can list what each tag is for e.g. mobile / keys / partner / dog.

The question is would I buy it myself. It retails at £45 (two tags incl.). As someone who doesn't tend to lose things, that might be a bit steep for me but my friends have loved it.
