I don't normally review things like this as I am not a believer. At the time of receiving the Patch-it however, I was desperately tired from having insomnia for well over a week. The Patch-it did help, but not as well as I had hoped. I do realise this may be as I was hoping for a miracle rather than appreciating what the Patch-it can do.
The Patch-it is exactly what it says on the packet. Its a patch which you attach to the base of your feet to wear while sleeping. I know some people cringe at the thought of anything being near their feet, but if you can wear socks, you can wear the Patch-it's. While it's an unusual sensation, they are ultimately very comfortable.
The Patch-it is basically a poultice. Poultice use was quite common in human medicine, but since the introduction of Topical creams, poultices are now mainly used on horses to reduce joint pain. Poultices work in three ways:- To bring heat to the area, to hold herbal medicines in contact with the body, and to draw toxins into the area so they can be expelled through the skin.
Patch-it's improve your health while you sleep by improving your circulation, and as a result, cleansing your body. The three ingredients in the Patch-it which help to achieve this, are the Mandarin Wood Vinegar (which produces warmth), the Brazilian Tourmaline (which is activated by heat) and Green Tea (which is an antioxidant). 5000 years ago the Chinese believed that many of the energy points in your body went from your feet to your torso, and from your feet to your face. This is why so many of us love a foot massage and may also be why the Patch-it's work.
So what went wrong with me and the Patch-it's? To be honest I had hoped that the Patch-its were going to assist me with sleep. They didn't. I still struggled just as much as I did without them. All was not lost however! Not only did I feel more relaxed while wearing the Patch-its, the next morning I didn't feel as tired as I expected to. In fact I felt quite invigorated compared to how I had been on other mornings!
Wearing and removing the Patch-its wasn't a problem either. They were completely comfortable, with none of the itchiness that you'd expect from having adhesive on your feet. The Patch-its stayed on very well both during the night, and the next morning when I was padding around the house on them. I did worry about removal considering how tightly they stuck, but I needn't have worried, they came straight off with no sticky residue left behind. If you have very sensitive feet and are concerned, its probably best to remove the Patch-its slowly and held horizontally.
I have since read very good things about the Patch-it's in regards to joint pain and stiffness. Considering that they have made my morning's easier, I would recommend you try these.
Available from www.naturesdream.co.uk and priced at £9.99 for box of 6 patches and £29.99 for box of 20.
