Drawer Light
May 10

Let there be light in your drawers! This wasn’t exactly the way Alex talked me into doing this particular review, but it was close. No idea what I’m talking about? Let me introduce you to the LED Sensor Drawer Lamp.
Alex felt the Lamps looked very sleek and sexy, yet my first impression was a bit of a let-down. Made of plastic and
quite flimsy, I wondered how useful it would be. Admittedly they are silver plastic and streamlined in design.
This isn’t a gadget which needs to be hard wearing, unless you have overstuffed drawers. I do generally, but decided to clean them up a bit for this review.
The Lamp is very simple to set up. Running on 4 ‘AAA’ batteries which slot in easily, the light itself uses very little power so the batteries should last you for well over a year. When they run out they are easily replaceable despite being adhered to the inner panel of the drawer. The LED light is not replaceable.
If you’re the sort to run at the sight of DIY, fear not. With a choice of either using two enclosed nails to attach the lamp to your inner drawer panel, or two adhesive strips, the attachment process couldn’t be easier. Be sure about your placement if using the strips. I unthinkingly placed my lamp far too low in the drawer and now the adhesive has stuck too fast for me to adjust.
So what does the sensor lamp do? The lamp has two modes, one for larger drawers like cabinets where you might need the
light on for longer and one for smaller, shallow drawers. After attaching the lamp you need never touch it again except to
replace the batteries as the lamp turns itself on and off automatically. When the drawer opens, the small sensor at the top
of the lamp detects the movement and the small light switches on. The lights will then switch off after either a short period
or after you close the drawer.
Placing my trial lamp in my kitchen knife and implement drawer, the light is actually very reassuring – no concerns about stabbing myself accidently as the light shows me clearly where everything is. In fact, having now used it for several weeks and appreciating that there’s other areas in my house (cupboards, deep closet shelves etc) that would benefit from this gadget I would happily buy more.
Alex was right – let there be light in your drawers, my friends :-P
