Too Much Information.
I find myself faced with this dilemma as I sit down to write my review on this gadget. However, for the sake of allowing
this gadget to be truly appreciated, full disclosure from me is required.
I am a great believer in the power of the subconscious. Frankly the subject fascinates me. The knowledge that this
powerhouse within my mind never switches off, even when I do, often has me wondering what I could do to enhance my life
whilst fast asleep.
One thing I have been desperate to do is improve my knowledge of the Spanish language but my waking day just doesn’t
currently allow me the time to either attend classes, read books or listen to CD’s.
Then along came the Traditional Sound Asleep Pillow. A big comfy polyester pillow with a built in
speaker.
I was a little wary as I opened the box – the idea of a built-in speaker had me imaging uncomfortable lumps and sharp
edges tucked no so subtly into the foam.
I couldn’t have been more wrong.
With a little prodding around, I couldn’t identify where the speaker was.
An excellent start.
With a cord attached for a standard 3.5mm jack, I grabbed my MP3 player – actually my PDA on which all my music is
loaded - and plugged it in to my pillow. The gentle voice of one of my favourite music artists was heard quietly
but clearly. Wow! The cord is long enough – just over a metre – to allow most people to rest their
device on the floor or beside table.
I lay down and was for a moment surprised that the sound was only coming from one side of the pillow. Pah. Not stereo.
However, this immediately proved to be an advantage as noise of this nature at night irritates the hell out of my partner.
I needed only to spin the pillow around and minimise the sound on that side. Success!
It is my intention from this moment forth to upload my Spanish Language CD’s to my PDA and fall asleep each night
to the gentle introduction of “Ola!”.
It is an unusual but very effective gadget and I’m so glad someone eventually came up with the idea. I like to change my pillows approximately every six months but at £15 a pop, I’d be happy to buy another of these.
