Bye Bye Standby

Product: Bye Bye Standby

Okay, hands up from me - this gadget doesn't look inspiring but goodness it is good - and 'fun' to boot.
The Bye Bye Standby system is as it looks in the first instant - a set of plugs and a control handset but it is what it does that makes it worthwhile on several fronts.

Now, I am an infamous info' junkie as well as a gadget fiend so here's a fact that I'm betting you didn't know.

Washing Machines use just under 20% of their normal electricity requirment when on standby!
Frankly, I find that mind blowing! However with the Bye Bye Standby system you can stroll out of the door and turn off not just your washing machine / tumble dryer / freeview system / TV / dishwasher and multiple other electrical devices with a singular press of a button on the credit card sized Bye Bye Standby control panel.
You can group electrical appliances and / or control them individually. This is a bonus not just for the environment but for YOUR electrical bill too - saving you up to £38 a year (how much do you spend on a persons Christmas present, huh?)

However, if you're like me, it gets even better. To have one button to press to switch on my two lamps, freeview system and TV is just a joy. Press another button and the kettle, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer all start up. One more button and the cradles for my mobile phones and / or laptops light up.
I've already bluetacked my control panel to the wall so I can do this when I walk in.

Setting it up is also incredibly easy so no time-wasting there although you might find yourself strolling around afterwards for twenty minutes having fun pressing the on / off switches on your control panel (or is that just me?)

The big question with reviewing a product is always "Would I buy it myself" and the answer with regard to this is an emphatic yes! Bye Bye Standbye retails at £29.99 and is available at Currys, PC World and Comet to name but a few or you can visit www.byebyestandby.co.uk (worth checking out)
