Writing this review has been quite a challenge indeed, as it has taken me quite some time and effort to know exactly how I really feel about the product in question! I’ve felt torn between “Is there a point to them?” to “They could be quite useful, particularly if you have kids or health problems”…
So what is the product in question?
Well it’s called ‘Count on it’… the easy to use food freshness monitor, and
consists of 25 scratch-off self adhesive labels per pack. The idea is to avoid having to throw away primarily food
products, but also many other household products once they have been opened before their expiry date.
A label is stuck onto the food jar, packet, tin, etc, and the present day and month is scratched off, so that when you
return to the said food days or weeks or even months later you know exactly when it was first opened and whether or not
it is still safe and healthy to consume it.
As I mentioned before it is also useful for other products apart from fresh and frozen food, it can also be
used on medication, beauty products, baby food, juices, and even your general ‘tuppa-ware’ containers
of delicious leftovers! Basically these scratch-off labels can be used on practically everything!
The labels come in a handy little box which can be kept in the fridge and cupboards for quick and accessible
use.
I found them particularly useful over the Christmas period as just like everyone else I had plenty of leftover food,
days and even weeks later! However I will have to admit that I am a ’creature of habit’ and very much
’stuck in my own ways’… so I shall likely be sticking to my own very old and trusted ‘technique’
of the “sniff and taste” test, that’s been handed down to me through generations in my family!
The labels would probably be far more useful if you have small children who rely on you to watch what they put in
their mouth! As mine are older, I have passed the remaining labels to a friend who was impressed as he has
health conditions that require very accurate and precise monitoring of food and medication freshness and consumption.
So I am going to give the ‘Count on it’ freshness labels a moderate score of 6/10.
