OXO Mango Splitter

Product: OXO Mango Splitter

The Mango Splitter is a gadget which does exactly what the name suggests - splits mangos. I was thrilled to receive this gadget as I’m a huge fan of mangoes but can’t bear the process of slicing them. I either end up missing some of the pulp, or I’m getting the knife stuck in the pip. Considering that mangoes are one of the most commonly eaten fresh fruit world-wide, this is a product that really should take off.

The Mango Splitter is a very simple design; pretty to look at, easy to hold and needing just a rinse after the job is done. Being mango in colour it meant that I guessed what it was the moment I clapped eyes on it. Of course if mango doesn’t suit your decor, the Mango Splitter also comes in white.

Product: OXO Mango Splitter The real issue here however, isn’t its cool colours or how well that mushy pulp rinses off in water, but whether or not it actually works! Luckily I just happened to have a mango in my possession the day the Mango Splitter arrived.
As preparation, I thought I’d be clever and read the instructions. They told me to place the mango stem down and place the Mango Splitter on the top of the Mango. So far, so good.

When this was done I then pressed down on the MS with both handles. It was at this point that I realised my mango was possibly not entirely ripe. The slicer still managed to cut through perfectly, giving me two yummy, gently curved mango pieces. Yum. The handles too, proved to be very comfortable on the way down.
After you’ve sliced the mango, the instructions give you a tip on the best way to remove the mango pulp from the skin in order to get it into your mouth.

If this were a Facebook comment I would have clicked on ‘Like’ a lot.
