OXO Strawberry Huller

Product: OXO Strawberry Huller

Known as the 'Martha Stewart' of my family I love a good gadget, in fact I've got a kitchen full of them.  Many seem a good idea and a way to save time at first, then I end up using them once maybe twice, only to put away never to see the light of day again.  Because of this I was really keen to try the Strawberry Huller, to see if this could be one of the few that makes it to the front of the drawer.

The idea is really simple - push the huller into the strawberry, the stalk and leaves get pushed into the tube, twist the huller and then remove. Push the button on top of the huller to release the leaves and you're ready for the next one.

The good thing is not only is the idea simple, it works.  I got it first time, one strawberry hulled and all ready to eat!  This really works, doesn't matter what shape your strawberries are or even if they are a little soft, the huller will deal with them.  Cleaning it too couldn't be easier, the two parts slide out and you can wash them thoroughly.

Would I use it every time I eat strawberries?  Probably not, as if I'm eating them with sugar and cream the stalk is a handy way to hold them.  For preparing them to cook with, or to make sure guests don't end up trying to discreetly get rid of the bits they can't eat, I know it's definitely going to get used.  This is one gadget that won't sit forgotten in the drawer.

Available from Amazon and a variety of other online and retail outlets for under a tenner.
