Product: Mr Site - Standard

Mr Site promises to be the "Easier Than Easy Website Kit".
Great!

I have experience in using website builders such as Mr Site that use templates.
I have no coding knowledge etc and find programs like Mr Site most useful but struggle to have the sites I build attain the professional look I want for my businesses.
Having seen a website created using Mr Site I was looking forward to trialing this.

I wanted to create a website to sell grain leather shoes from Spain. The shoes are expensive and high quality so I needed a great looking site.

However, what follows is a step by step report of difficulties: -

I found initially that it was more difficult to follow the instructions than using the template website to start with!
That worried me so I decided not to transfer the domain just in case I could not finish it or encountered insurmountable issues.
That meant that I was working off-line and I would continue doing so until I am happy and confident with the Mr Site platform.

I found the online customer service with instant help incredibly useful. I was able to instant message someone who gave me general advice. However this service was discontinued shortly after I started creating the website.

I refused to call a help line where the cost is £0.50 per minute, especially not knowing how long they would need to explain things and for me to understand them in full.
I have used the email facility and although not ideal because the reply never comes as soon as you want it, at least they reply.

Since the shoes website is basically an online shop with lots of options I was aware that it was going to be harder than doing a simple information website but I never imagined that it was going to be this hard.

Their server has crashed on me on different occasions, instantly voiding all the work I had done!

Also, when editing the shop (items that are on sale, details, pictures, description, etc) the ‘next’ button is not at the bottom of the page, but hidden behind the 'image arrangement' changes.
As the instructions only indicates to press 'next' but it is nowhere to be seen easily, after working on the changes and not getting them saved, they get deleted and I had to start again.
This was a completely unnecessary stress and indeed waste of time.

In addition, when modifying items in the shop the page went 'weird'.
I was unable to edit some of the items because the drop down menus didn’t open properly.
They seemed to open underneath the next item, thus unable to write on the drop down menus, adding a picture or changing any content - in essence I couldn't access the menu properly.

I even added a picture but it wouldn't load or show.
Maybe it has to do with the fact that the server kept on crashing (see error message below) when saving the changes and it took at least 2 attempts of ‘go back to previous page’ and ‘next’.

Sorry!
There has been a problem processing your request. Below is a bit of information about the error:

Again, this could be due to the fact that I have not transferred the domain to Mr Site.
Accepting this, I have written to customer services and I am yet to get a reply.

Customer service sent me an automated email with possible questions and answers links to ‘Mr Site support’. However, the link from the email is not working and takes me nowhere.

Why do my images show as little x symbols?

I found it very difficult to dedicate whole days to creating the website with Mr Site.
Maybe I should have used more time to create the website alone.
I have taken little moments during my busy days to do it, mostly at nights.
Perhaps I was tired and I was not paying good attention to it but the truth is, that was the way I had been modifying my other website and I have never had a problem.

It may not look professional with the other company but I don’t think I would like to use Mr Site for my www.burlesqueheels.com
