I would say that I tend to get good use out of a majority of my gadgets. Probably because most of my gadgets are chosen
to fulfil a purpose. However, with the following – which isn’t so much a gadget as a gadget lifestyle
support – I can confidently say it has been utterly overused.
It all started in some dark but cool bar in a side street of Camden (a very trendy area of London where Goths mix with punks who chat happily with street fundraisers and Hari Krishna’s and you’re offered cannabis as you stroll the tattoo parlours and leatherwear shops...) I was in the area to get my hair cut (bet that explains a lot) ... and popped along to this dark bar to pick up my... Snuggie.
The Snuggie is like a super-sized, ultra-soft blanket with sleeves (and the Deluxe version has pockets too) The idea was that as I sit at my computer late at night, I can pull it about me like a wrap of endless warming cotton wool and work into the graveyard hours snug as the proverbial bug. Well, it does that to perfection! However it has uses far beyond this! Imagine tucking up on the sofa – and trust me, I cannot convey in words how soft these snuggies are! – and you reach out for the remote control... and your arms are still wrapped up, unlike the biting nip if you stretch out from beneath a blanket. Turn down your heating a notch and you’ll not notice the difference when you’re wrapped up in this.
At six foot in height, these Snuggies (one size drowns all beautifully) covers me from neck to toe and then some, in
blissful winter comfort. In fact I have become so attached to my Snuggie that a recent weekend away found it being packed
into my overnight bag!
The day I received it, I strolled back to my hairdressers and opened it in the Salon. The staff gathered about and our poor web manager, who was with me on that occasion, went home with the firm instruction to text the head of the Salon with purchasing details, so taken was he with it and therein wanting to promptly buy several for his sister, mum and various other family members for Christmas.
I fear the Snuggie will fall into the category of “looks ridiculous – works wonders!” but
asked if I would recommend it, there’s no doubt about it! It is one of the coolest (warmest) little
gadget lifestyle recommendations I’ve seen all year! If you yourself or someone you know gets really hacked off with
the winter chills, this is a definite Christmas gift addition!
