As an avid user of the Tom Tom I was naturally sceptical of a navigational tool for the iPod, however the NAVMii more than surpassed my expectations. With a user friendly menu system and useful functionality, it really is a GPS system to contend with. Watch out TOM TOM this is a product that could send you into early retirement!

The NAVMii has an easy to use menu system and some great functionality. There is a mode for both day and night views which can be changed with 2 taps on the screen. There are 1000ʼs of places of interest to choose from (poiʼs),  fast route calculation and automatic re-routing if you make the wrong turn! NAVMii provides both the ETA and distance to your selected destination and even speed limit warnings incorporated into the map. My favourite feature is the integrated option to navigate to your music on the iPod.
The real difference I found between the NAVMii and other GPS navigational systems is that there is no need to navigate your way through endless menus to choose settings. Almost all of the settings and functions can be reached within 3 clicks, which can be done well within a traffic light change, this puts an end to needless pulling over just to change preferences.

The graphics although simplistic are clear and easy to follow and the voice navigation is clear and concise (although there is only one tone). There are 2 views -2D and 3D. I feel that perhaps a birdʼs eye view would have given it that extra edge. Perhaps something they should consider for the next release?

Most surprising about this product is that you can be up and running within 10mins of downloading it.
The NAVMii may not have multiple voices or warning tones, but it does what it says on the packet and in my opinion much more. The theme of simplicity runs throughout the application and although there are only 2 choices of maps, NAVMii will calculate your route clearly and precisely every time.

For a price tag of £19.00 (UK and Ireland) NAVMii is a fraction of other GPS systems currently available and therefore of decent value. It also removes the need for extra equipment in the car.
