MOTOROKR E8

Product: MotoRokr E8

The MOTOROKR E8 ROCKS!

The motorokr is an amazing MP3 player / mobile phone. It has a sleek black look, is touch screen and has a very contemporary looking keyboard. The touch screen fine overall especially when pressing the number keys - its less sensitive than the LG chocolate which means the slightest touch doesn't trigger it. I like that because it means what you press is what you get. Unfortunately it doesn't quite work the same when hitting the scroll pad. It's a little more sensitive which means it's not as easy to select the function you want. I've deleted a few text messages by mistake when I was actually just trying to reply to them. I'm sure a user would get use to it in time though.

It has some very cool ringtones and as it's an MP3 player you can select your own songs as ringtones too. This isn't new and is available one some other phones but what is unique is the fact that it allows you to use your own tunes for the alarm tone, text tone, voice mail tone and ring tone. That's something I haven't seen on any other phone before.

The MP3 player itself is excellent. You can load roughly 4,500 songs. It very easy to do as all you have to do is insert the ubs cable into the pc and the phone and drag and drop the files you want. You don't actually need to load any software onto your pc. The quality of songs is great especially with the headphones provided. You can actually do other things like text or scroll through the many options while you're listening to music. I thought that was very well thought through by Motorola but in addition to that you can actually play the MP3 player without using the headphones and the quality is actually very good. It doesn't sound tinny and is actually quite loud depending on the volume level you select. Very neat I thought. I used both these features a lot. There is even software that will identify a song by pointing the phone at the speaker. You have to be connected to the phone's mobile internet
to do this. Its great if you hear a song you like but don't know what it's called or who sings it.

Now it has to be said that as it's an MP3 player and a mobile phone the battery does drain down fairly quickly. It will last a day – day and a half max if you play music a lot. If you don't listen to much music it will last much longer.

There is also a pretty good camera function on the phone. The quality of photo's taken at night isn't as good as I've seen on other phones but the ones taken in the day are excellent. There is a neat feature when viewing the photos. Not only can you scroll through the photos but you can easily rotate them and they actually rotate at super fast speed. There is also the ability to load pictures that weren't taken by the camera and the same goes for videos too.
The MOTORKR is a truly flexible phone and gives the user the ability to customise the phone. You can create shortcut keys and select any four icons to have on the screen from a range of the functions. The phone setup was very straight forward and easy to do. The instructions were well presented and were very clear. There is a great lock feature on the phone which prevents keys being pressed or unwanted calls / functions being selected.

Overall I thought this was a very cool phone and one I would definitely buy and use myself and recommend to others. It has some great features and does everything a combined mp3 player / phone should do. I was impressed with how good it was as an MP3 player in its own right and as a phone in its own right.
